Suhasini Haidar is an Indian print and television Journalist. She is the Diplomatic Affairs Editor of The Hindu, a leftist newspaper. She regularly writes on conflict and foreign policy issues with a focus on the Indian subcontinent.
Personal Life :
Suhasini Haidar is the youngest daughter of BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy and Roxna Swamy. She is married to Nadim Haidar, son of former Indian foreign secretary Salman Haidar. Her family also includes her two daughter Ava Mumtaz and Maya Mehr. She completed her graduation from Lady Shriram College, Delhi. Career :
Suhasini Haidar began her career in journalism as an intern at CNN’s United Nation’s bureau in New York in 1994, after which she joined CNN New Delhi bureau as a producer in 1995. In 2000, while covering a news report, she also sustained an injury in Kashmir due to an explosion. She has covered many challenging stories and conflicts from Pakistan, Iraq, Sri Lanka, Libya, Lebanon and Syria. She was also the Foreign Affairs editor and prime time anchor at CNN-IBN (2005-2014), where she presented the signature show, WorldView with Suhasini Haidar.
As of 2016, she is currently working as the Strategic and Diplomatic Affairs editor at the newspaper, The Hindu. She has also written columns and articles in leading news papers such as Business Standard & the Indian Express in the past. Her articles at The Hindu covers wide range topics including Indian Foreign Policy, International Diplomacy and Global Security challenges. Some of the famous personalities that she has interviewed include Dr Manmohan Singh, SM Krishna, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, Omar Abdullah and Farooq Abdullah.
