The self-proclaimed cow vigilante known as ‘Bittu Bajrangi’ has come forward to defend the presence of weapons during a religious yatra organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in Nuh, Haryana. Speaking exclusively to India Today, Bittu Bajrangi asserted that some participants did carry swords and sticks during the yatra, but he clarified that these weapons were licensed and intended for religious purposes, such as worship and rituals, rather than for any violent or malicious intentions.

The controversy surrounding the use of weapons in the religious procession arose after Gurugram MP Rao Inderjit Singh expressed his concerns about participants carrying swords and sticks. He questioned the necessity of having weapons in a peaceful yatra and held both sides responsible for the series of clashes that occurred in various districts of Haryana.

In response to the criticism, Bittu Bajrangi explained that the yatra is an annual event attended by women, children, and elderly individuals, making it essential to ensure their safety. He expressed fear for the safety of women and children when a group of men attacked them during the yatra. While he acknowledged the presence of some individuals carrying weapons, he emphasized that the swords were used purely for puja and rituals, with no intent to cause harm.

Meanwhile, opposition leaders took the opportunity to condemn the BJP-led Haryana government for the violence in Nuh. Congress MP Randeep Surjewala labeled it as a ‘malice’ of the government, raising questions about their actions during the clashes in Gurugram, Nuh, and Sohna.

BSP chief Mayawati also criticized the government for the failure of law and order in the state, drawing parallels to the situation in Manipur. The communal violence in Nuh district not only affected the immediate area but also spread to neighboring regions like Gurugram, resulting in clashes that led to the death of a cleric and the destruction of a mosque in Sector 57.

As authorities investigate the communal clashes, 116 people have been arrested, and 44 FIRs have been registered in different districts of Haryana. The situation remains under scrutiny as authorities work diligently to restore peace and order in the region.

The presence of weapons during religious processions has sparked heated debates and discussions, and the involvement of prominent political figures and opposition leaders has further intensified the situation. As the investigations continue and efforts are made to prevent further escalation of violence, it is crucial for all parties involved to engage in constructive dialogue and find amicable solutions to restore harmony and peace in the affected areas.
