During a recent Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, the President of the Congress Party, Mallikarjun Kharge, delivered a crucial message to party members: exercise restraint when it comes to praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This counsel comes in the wake of remarks made by Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister T S Singh Deo, who had offered compliments to PM Modi at a recent event in Raigadh.

Singh Deo, while sharing the stage with Prime Minister Modi, expressed his confidence in Modi’s support for Chhattisgarh. He commended the cooperation between the state and the Centre, asserting that he did not sense any bias. Initially, Congress had dismissed Singh Deo’s remarks as a courteous gesture. However, during the CWC meeting, Kharge underscored the importance of refraining from unnecessary praise of the Prime Minister, urging Singh Deo and all CWC members to be cautious in this regard.

The Congress Party is currently immersed in devising a strategy for the upcoming Assembly elections and the highly anticipated 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Kharge, during the CWC meeting, called upon party members to unite in their efforts to thwart the BJP’s ambitions in these elections. He also urged them to prepare for electoral contests in Jammu and Kashmir whenever they are scheduled.

Kharge didn’t mince words when he accused the Narendra Modi government of diverting people’s attention from fundamental issues. He emphasized the critical need for organizational unity within the Congress. Kharge stressed that it is only through unity and discipline that the party can hope to overcome its adversaries.

Highlighting the hardships faced by ordinary citizens during the past decade under BJP rule, Kharge criticized the Prime Minister for what he alleged to be a lack of attention to the concerns of various segments of the population. Given these circumstances, he made it clear that the party cannot afford to be passive observers any longer.

The strategic discussions and efforts to maintain unity and discipline within the Congress reflect the party’s unwavering determination to compete effectively in the forthcoming elections and counter the influence of the ruling BJP. With political dynamics evolving rapidly, the Congress Party aims to present a strong and united front as it gears up for the electoral battles that lie ahead.
