A significant fire erupted in a scrap godown located in Maharashtra’s Bhiwandi area during the late hours of Saturday night, prompting an immediate response from firefighting authorities. Upon receiving the alert, two fire tenders swiftly arrived at the scene to combat the inferno.
Providing insight into the situation, Fire Officer Shailesh Shinde disclosed that, fortunately, no casualties have been reported thus far. “At 11:30 pm last night, we received a distress call regarding a fire outbreak. Our team promptly mobilized to the location, and efforts are currently underway to extinguish the flames. Thankfully, there have been no casualties,” he stated.
Shinde further elaborated on the nature of the fire, revealing that the scrap godown housed a substantial quantity of miscellaneous items, including wooden ply, plastic products, paper, and cardboard. “The blaze has engulfed approximately 15-20 warehouses, reducing them to ashes. Additionally, several four-wheelers parked in the vicinity were also affected by the fire,” he remarked.
As firefighting personnel continue their relentless efforts to contain the blaze, they have encountered challenges stemming from a shortage of water supply. Shinde emphasized the difficulties faced by the responders, stating, “Our teams are currently grappling with the fire, compounded by a scarcity of water resources. Furthermore, even if additional water sources are secured, it is anticipated to take approximately five to six hours to fully subdue the flames.”
The ongoing situation remains dynamic, with firefighting crews diligently working to bring the fire under control. However, the complexity of the blaze and the limited availability of water pose significant obstacles to the containment efforts.
Given the evolving nature of the incident, authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and additional updates are expected as the firefighting operation progresses. As such, further details regarding the extent of the damage and any developments in the firefighting efforts are awaited.
As this remains a developing story, comprehensive information regarding the cause of the fire, the extent of the damage, and any potential repercussions will be disseminated once available. In the meantime, firefighting personnel continue their tireless efforts to combat the blaze and prevent any further escalation of the situation.
