Dharmendra Pradhan, the Minister of Education and Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in India, highlighted the potential of digitally skilled youth to drive entrepreneurship and create wealth in society. He made this statement during an event where eight Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed with IBM to promote digital skilling in emerging technologies.

Pradhan emphasized that India, with its vast and youthful population, is poised for tremendous growth potential. To tap into this demographic dividend, he stressed the importance of equipping the youth with the necessary digital skills to excel in the modern workforce.

The collaboration with IBM represents a significant step forward in realizing the vision of a ‘Skilled India’ and expanding the scope of digital skills training and skill development in cutting-edge technologies, according to Dharmendra Pradhan.

Under the signed MoUs, a comprehensive range of curated courses will be made available to empower India’s youth with skills that are aligned with future demands. The partnership will focus on co-designing a curriculum and providing access to IBM’s learning platforms, including SkillsBuild. These resources will be leveraged to upskill individuals across various educational levels, encompassing school education, higher education, and vocational training.

The areas of focus for the collaboration will revolve around emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (including generative AI), cybersecurity, cloud computing, and professional development skills. By offering training in these crucial areas, the initiative aims to equip young individuals with the skills necessary to excel in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Digital skilling and technology proficiency have become paramount in today’s world, opening doors to employment opportunities, entrepreneurship, and innovation. This partnership between the Ministries of Education and Skill Development, along with IBM, demonstrates the commitment to fostering a digitally skilled workforce and promoting entrepreneurship among India’s youth. It aligns with the country’s goal of preparing its citizens to thrive in the digital age and contribute to the nation’s economic growth and development.
