The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced a significant reduction in the examination fee for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) examination. The fee has been lowered to ₹750, providing relief to aspiring medical students. This decision was communicated through a letter addressed to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, dated January 5, 2024.
In the letter, Dr Abhijat Sheth, President of NBEMS, expressed gratitude to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya for his leadership, acknowledging the minister’s pivotal role in the successful achievement of NBEMS’s objectives. The reduction in the examination fee is expected to benefit thousands of candidates appearing for upcoming examinations.
Dr Sheth highlighted the commitment of NBEMS to enhance the accessibility of quality medical education in India. The fee reduction of ₹750 per candidate will be applicable to those submitting their application forms for upcoming examinations after January 1, 2024. This move is aimed at making medical education more affordable for aspiring candidates.
The NBEMS president emphasized in the letter that this fee reduction initiative wouldn’t have been possible without the valuable inputs and guidance from Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. He assured the minister of NBEMS’s continued efforts in providing specialist manpower, conducting quality examinations, and offering training opportunities in the medical field.
As the NEET PG examination is crucial for medical aspirants seeking admission to postgraduate medical courses, the fee reduction comes as a significant relief. The move aligns with the government’s efforts to promote affordable and accessible education in the healthcare sector.
While the specific details of the NEET PG 2024 examination dates are yet to be officially announced by NBEMS, there is speculation that the exam might be held in July. The counselling session is expected to commence in the first week of August, subject to any delays in the examination schedule.
In addition to the NEET PG fee reduction, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the examination schedule for various entrance exams in 2024. The NEET exam for undergraduate medical courses is scheduled for May 5, 2023, with subsequent editions also set to occur on the first Sunday of May in 2024.
The reduction in the NEET PG examination fee to ₹750 reflects the government’s commitment to making medical education more affordable and accessible. The acknowledgment of Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya’s leadership underscores the collaborative efforts to enhance the quality of medical education in India. Aspiring medical candidates will benefit from this fee reduction, aligning with the broader goals of promoting excellence in the healthcare sector.
