Thalapathy Vijay’s latest release, ‘Leo: Bloody Sweet,’ continues its extraordinary run in theaters, setting new box office records. After an impressive debut, the film secured the third position at the global box office over the latest weekend.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, this Tamil blockbuster achieved a remarkable $31.2 million in worldwide earnings. ‘Leo: Bloody Sweet’ even outperformed Leonardo DiCaprio’s ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ in the Weekend Global Box Office regarding global cumulative collections among new releases, as reported by Comscore.

At the top of the Weekend Global Box Office list was Martin Scorsese’s ‘Killers of the Flower Moon,’ starring Leonardo DiCaprio, with $44 million in worldwide collections. It was closely followed by ‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,’ which raked in $41.5 million. Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Leo’ secured the third position with a remarkable $31.2 million in global collections.

‘Leo’ may have ranked third in the worldwide weekend list, but it triumphed over ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ in the category of worldwide cumulative collections among new releases. While Leonardo DiCaprio’s movie collected $44 million in this category, ‘Leo’ impressively reached $48.5 million.

This Tamil action-thriller is a homage to David Cronenberg’s film “A History of Violence.” Released on October 19, ‘Leo’ tells the story of a docile cafe owner (played by Vijay) who is drawn back into his violent past.

The film enjoyed a stellar start, earning ₹403.5 crore in its opening weekend. On the first day of its release, it amassed ₹64.8 crore, distributed across four different languages: Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada. The Tamil version led the way with ₹48.96 crore, while the Telugu version earned ₹12.9 crore. The Hindi and Kannada versions made modest collections, with ₹2.8 crore and ₹14 lakh, respectively.

However, the film’s financial momentum did experience a decline on the following day, accumulating ₹35.25 crore, which represents a 45.6% decrease from the opening day. Nevertheless, the Tamil version continued to dominate, earning ₹29.04 crore. ‘Leo: Bloody Sweet’ has firmly established itself as a box office success and continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
