Originally conceived as a “Star Wars” project, Snyder’s vision for “Rebel Moon” took shape over the years and has now found a home on Netflix. The project will be released as a two-part movie series. The first installment, “Rebel Moon: A Child of Fire,” is set to premiere on December 22, 2023. Audiences can then anticipate the arrival of the highly anticipated second part, “Rebel Moon: The Scargiver,” on April 19, 2024.
During his appearance at Gamescom, Snyder confirmed that a mobile game based on “Rebel Moon” is also in development by mobile developer Super Evil Megacorp.
Snyder co-wrote the screenplay with Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, adapting it from a story co-created with Johnstad. The filmmaker, along with his wife Deborah Snyder, produced the project through their banner, The Stone Quarry. Eric Newman of Grand Electric also joins as a producer, with Bergen Swanson serving as an executive producer alongside Hatten, Johnstad, and Sarah Bowen.
