19-Year-Old Collapses and Dies on Treadmill in Ghaziabad

19-year-old male dies after collapsing on treadmill at a gym in Ghaziabad, family declines autopsy.

In a heart-wrenching incident, a 19-year-old male collapsed and passed away while using a treadmill at a gym in the Khoda area of Ghaziabad. The tragic event unfolded on a Saturday morning, leaving both gymgoers and the local community in shock.

Law enforcement officials who responded to the scene reported that the victim’s family declined to have an autopsy performed. Instead, they requested permission to transport the young man’s body to their village in Siwan. The incident was captured on video and has been circulating on social media platforms.

The video depicts a young man stumbling on the treadmill, losing his balance, and ultimately collapsing. Quick-thinking individuals who were present in the gym rushed to his aid, attempting to revive him. They promptly transported him to a nearby hospital, where medical professionals, unfortunately, pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Assistant commissioner of police (Indirapuram) Swatantra Dev Singh provided further details, stating, “Singh was declared brought dead by attending doctors… The family of the deceased requested that an autopsy should not be conducted and took the body to their native place in Bihar.”

Dr. RN Singh, the doctor who attended to the victim at the hospital, indicated that the incident might have been caused by an underlying heart condition or a blood pressure-related issue. He mentioned, “Some men from the gym brought Singh to my hospital, but he had already died. He was brought to me around noon. The men told me that he was on a treadmill in the gym and collapsed while running. Prima facie, it seems that it could be a case of a heart stroke.”

Health experts have raised concerns about the incident, suggesting that it might be linked to an undiagnosed heart condition or blood pressure problem. They emphasize the importance of regular health check-ups, particularly for young individuals, as lifestyle disorders can impact even seemingly healthy individuals.

Dr. NK Gupta, former director of the Uttar Pradesh health department, emphasized the need for further investigation. “Youngsters nowadays also suffer from lifestyle disorders. It is a possibility that Singh could have suffered a heart stroke or some blood pressure issue which was ignored and could have led to the incident. If the family had opted for an autopsy, it could have brought the exact cause to light,” he stated.

This tragic incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of monitoring one’s health, especially when engaging in strenuous physical activities like exercise. It underscores the need for individuals, regardless of age, to be proactive about their well-being and seek medical advice when necessary.
