All Schools in Haryana Closed Today

The security guards will ensure that no student leaves the premises during school time, Punjab Education Minister said.

In observance of Independence Day festivities, the Haryana Government has announced the closure of all government and private schools within the state on Wednesday. This decision comes following the Independence Day celebrations that took place on Tuesday. The Haryana education department issued a notification to district education officers and district elementary education officers across the state, instructing them to ensure strict compliance with the day off.

The notification stated, “On the subject cited above, on account of celebrations of Independence Day on 15.08.2023, all the Government and Private Schools of the State shall remain closed on 16.08.2023.” The aim is to allow students and educators to participate in the celebrations marking India’s 76th year of Independence.

This year’s Independence Day is particularly significant as it marks the conclusion of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ festivities. Launched by Prime Minister Modi on March 12, 2021, at Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, these celebrations have symbolized the nation’s journey towards ‘Amrit Kaal’ or a new era of growth and development.

In a different context, post-violence arrests are ongoing in Haryana after clashes erupted in the Nuh district. As per the police, 141 individuals have been arrested, and 55 FIRs have been registered in connection with the violence and rioting that occurred on Monday. The violence between two groups resulted in a toll of 6 fatalities, including 2 police homeguards, and 88 injuries.

Anil Vij, the State Home Minister, has responded to the situation by emphasizing the scrutiny of social media platforms. A special committee, which includes members from the IT Cell, has been established to analyze social media activities. The committee aims to identify and address inciteful posts that could contribute to such incidents. Minister Vij stated, “During the scan, if it is revealed that someone has put out inciteful posts then action will be taken.”

While Haryana prepares for a day of school closures to commemorate Independence Day, the state remains vigilant in addressing incidents of violence and potential sources of unrest through thorough investigations and monitoring of social media activities.
