In a significant development, all six candidates for the Rajya Sabha polls in Bihar have been declared elected unopposed. This outcome was confirmed by the Vidhan Sabha secretariat on Tuesday, marking a notable event in the state’s political landscape. The uncontested election underscores the prevailing political dynamics and alliances in Bihar.

The candidates representing various political parties in Bihar include two from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), two from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), one from the Janata Dal-United (JDU), and one from the Congress. This diverse representation reflects the multiparty system and the distribution of power among key political players in the state.

From the BJP camp, Bhim Singh and Dharmshila Gupta emerged as the chosen candidates, while the Janata Dal-United (JDU) fielded Sanjay Jha. On the other hand, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) nominated Manoj Jha and Sanjay Yadav, with Akhilesh Prasad Singh representing the Congress party. Each candidate brings their own political background, experience, and vision to the table, promising a diverse representation of interests in the Rajya Sabha.

The allocation of certificates post the polls to the elected candidates symbolizes the formal recognition of their victory. The Vidhan Sabha secretariat presented certificates to Sanjay Kumar Jha from the JDU, Dharmshila Gupta, and Bhim Singh from the BJP, as well as Manoj Kumar Jha, Sanjay Yadav, and Akhilesh Prasad Singh from the RJD and Congress respectively. This ceremonial gesture marks the culmination of the electoral process and the official endorsement of their status as Rajya Sabha members-elect.

It is noteworthy that while Manoj Kumar Jha and Akhilesh Prasad Singh are set to embark on their second consecutive terms in the Rajya Sabha, the remaining four candidates will be making their parliamentary debut. This blend of experienced legislators and fresh faces adds a dynamic element to Bihar’s representation in the upper house of parliament.

The biennial elections were conducted to fill seats in the Rajya Sabha, the tenure of which was set to expire next month. The distribution of these seats reflects the political balance and representation among key stakeholders in Bihar’s political landscape. Notably, the Janata Dal-United (JDU), led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, held two of these seats, while one seat belonged to the BJP, its coalition partner.

In a parallel development, all six candidates from Maharashtra vying for Rajya Sabha seats were also declared elected unopposed. This included Ashok Chavan, a former Congress leader who joined the BJP, along with nominees from the Shiv Sena, NCP, and Congress. The unopposed election of these candidates underscores the prevailing political climate and alliances in Maharashtra, further shaping the dynamics of the state’s representation in the upper house.

The BJP nominees declared elected unopposed in Maharashtra include Ashok Chavan, former MLA Medha Kulkarni, and RSS worker Ajit Gopchade. Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena and NCP nominees are ex-Congress MP Milind Deora and Praful Patel, respectively. Chandrakant Handore, a Dalit leader nominated by the Congress, completes the roster of elected candidates from Maharashtra.

Overall, the unopposed election of all candidates for the Rajya Sabha polls in Bihar and Maharashtra highlights the prevailing political consensus and alliances within these states. It sets the stage for their representation in the upper house of parliament and underscores the broader dynamics of Indian politics at both the regional and national levels.
