Several BJP leaders are condemning the Congress party for declining the invitation to the Pran Pratishtha ceremony at Ayodhya’s Ram Temple. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, among the critics, has asserted that the Congress party would always choose “Babur over Lord Ram.” He deemed the decision to invite the Congress to the ceremony as wrong, emphasizing that those who have faith in Lord Ram should have been invited.
Sarma stated, “They love Babur, not Lord Ram. So the decision to invite them was wrong, and only those who have faith in Lord Ram should have been invited. Among Lord Ram and Babur, the Gandhi family will offer obeisance to Babur first.” He questioned how someone could help the Congress in this case, given its historical opposition to the construction of the Ayodhya’s Ram temple.
The Assam CM claimed that the Vishwa Hindu Parishad provided the Congress with a significant opportunity to redeem its perceived sins, but the party missed the chance. He criticized the Congress, alleging that during its tenure, it attempted to create an “ecosystem” to oppose the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Despite the Congress party’s opposition to the temple, it had a golden opportunity to reduce its sins, but it missed that opportunity, Sarma added.
Sarma went further, regarding the decision to invite the Congress to the ceremony as wrong due to the Gandhi family’s perceived proximity to Babur. The criticism from BJP leaders comes amid a series of remarks and reactions to the Congress party’s decision to boycott the grand inauguration of the Ram temple.
Earlier, Assam’s Housing & Urban Affairs and Irrigation Minister Ashok Singhal criticized the Congress for boycotting events that the country should be proud of. He emphasized that the opposition to the Ayodhya’s Ram Temple and Pran Pratishtha reflects a lack of understanding of Indian culture, philosophy, and spirituality.
CP Joshi, another BJP leader, questioned why the Congress has a “problem” with Lord Ram. He suggested that the Congress’ refusal to participate in the Pran Pratishtha ceremony indicates that they see “appeasement” in the event. Joshi highlighted Lord Ram as a symbol of faith for millions of people and criticized the opposition to the ceremony as an indication of the Congress’ failure to understand Indian culture.
As the political discourse intensifies, the controversy surrounding the Congress party’s decision and the contrasting viewpoints on the Ayodhya Ram Temple’s significance continue to shape public and political discussions.
