Pakistan has expressed its disapproval of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s recent comments, in which he stated that India is prepared to cross the Line of Control (LoC) to protect its honor and integrity. The remarks were made during a ceremony at the Kargil War Memorial in Ladakh’s Drass town on the 24th Kargil Vijay Diwas. Singh emphasized that India will not compromise when it comes to safeguarding its sovereignty and unity.
The Foreign Office in Islamabad criticized Singh’s statements, viewing them as a threat to regional peace and stability. Pakistan asserted that it is fully capable of defending itself against any aggression and urged India to exercise caution in its rhetoric. The statement from Islamabad also highlighted concerns about previous “highly irresponsible” remarks made by India’s political leaders and senior military officers regarding the Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan regions.
During his speech, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the bravery and skill of India’s armed forces during the Kargil War. He emphasized that despite facing a tactical disadvantage, Indian forces showed great courage in pushing back the adversary and reclaiming their land. Singh reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the armed forces in safeguarding the nation’s interests.
Singh emphasized that India is a peace-loving country with a firm belief in its longstanding values and adherence to international laws. However, he asserted that when necessary, India will not hesitate to cross the LoC to protect its interests. He credited the current government, led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, for providing the necessary political will and support to the armed forces. He also highlighted the faith that both the people and Parliament have in India’s soldiers.
The Kargil War, according to Singh, was an imposition on India, as the country had previously attempted to resolve issues with Pakistan through dialogue. He expressed disappointment at Pakistan’s actions, stating that India had been backstabbed during that time. To address the situation, India has granted the armed forces the freedom to eliminate any threats to the nation.
Despite Pakistan’s criticism, Rajnath Singh’s speech reaffirms India’s dedication to defending its territorial integrity and national interests. However, the exchange of remarks between the two countries further underscores the delicate and sensitive situation in the region.
