Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched a new and convenient way for metro commuters to purchase and use tickets with the introduction of QR code-based ticketing through the Paytm mobile app. This new feature is now available across all corridors, making it easier for passengers to access metro services.
Commuters can take advantage of this mobile QR ticketing feature by following a simple process within the Paytm app’s ‘Metro’ section. They need to input their entry and destination stations for the journey on the day they plan to travel. Once the mobile QR ticket is obtained, passengers can easily navigate the metro system by scanning the QR code using the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates at both the entry and exit stations.
This new feature was initially available only on the Airport Express Line, but DMRC has now expanded it to cover all corridors, offering greater convenience and flexibility to metro travelers in the National Capital.
Dr. Vikas Kumar, Managing Director of DMRC, highlighted the significance of this initiative, stating, “The QR-based ticketing for all corridors of Delhi Metro through Paytm will facilitate efficient and hassle-free movement for lakhs of metro commuters in the National Capital.” He emphasized the organization’s commitment to the “Digital India” initiative, aimed at enhancing electronic government services and online infrastructure.
Abhay Sharma, Chief Business Officer at Paytm, also emphasized the advantages of this new facility, allowing passengers to save time and avoid ticket queues. Paytm aims to provide innovative and smart mobility and payment solutions for Indian commuters.
Delhi Metro continues to diversify its ticket procurement channels through various digital modes, including UPI, credit and debit cards, net banking, and more. The organization is dedicated to simplifying and modernizing the ticket booking process to ensure that passengers enjoy a convenient and hassle-free experience.
In recent times, DMRC has rolled out multiple initiatives, such as QR ticketing via the mobile app, ticket vending machines, ticket windows, and WhatsApp ticketing, all of which accept popular digital payment methods. These efforts align with Delhi Metro’s commitment to offering a seamless and modern travel experience to its passengers.
