Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal has challenged Union Minister Amit Shah’s claims about possessing a ‘red diary’ that allegedly contains corruption details. Sibal has called upon Shah to reveal the supposed corruption details if he indeed possesses the diary. The ongoing ‘red diary’ controversy has sparked a political debate, with allegations of corruption against the Congress government in Rajasthan.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Kapil Sibal questioned Amit Shah’s assertion of having a ‘red diary’ and challenged him to disclose the alleged corruption details contained within it. Sibal highlighted the contradiction between Shah’s claims and his failure to provide evidence to support his allegations.

Sibal’s statement to ANI reads, “Does he have the red diary? Amit Shahji, can you tell me if you have the red diary? If you have the red diary, why don’t you tell the people of the country what are those corruption details? You don’t have the red diary, you don’t produce the red diary and yet you make allegations without knowing anything.”

The controversy surrounding the ‘red diary’ began when former Rajasthan minister Rajendra Singh Gudha claimed to possess a diary that allegedly contains evidence of corrupt activities by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and the state Congress. Gudha released excerpts from the diary as proof, promising further revelations in the future.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has termed the ‘red diary’ controversy as a “Bofors moment” for the Rajasthan government. BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi compared the allegations to previous instances of corruption scandals in Indian politics, such as the 2G scam and the Bofors scandal. Trivedi noted that the allegations against the Rajasthan government are significant as they come from within the government itself.

The ‘red diary’ controversy continues to be a point of contention in the political arena, with Kapil Sibal challenging Amit Shah’s claims and demanding transparency regarding the alleged corruption details. As the debate unfolds, the public and political observers await further developments in this ongoing controversy.
