West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has come down heavily on Governor CV Ananda Bose, accusing him of violating constitutional norms and asserting that she does not support his “unconstitutional activities.” Speaking at a Trinamool Congress youth wing rally, Banerjee criticized the Governor’s actions and warned against undermining the elected government.
Mamata Banerjee also expressed her apprehensions about the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) potentially conducting Lok Sabha elections earlier than scheduled, possibly in December. She claimed that the BJP had booked all available helicopters for campaigning. She further cautioned that if the BJP were to return to power for a third consecutive term, the nation could face an “autocratic” rule.
Addressing the controversy surrounding slogans raised by ABVP and BJP activists at Jadavpur University after a student’s suicide, Banerjee strongly condemned the “goli maro” slogans and announced that those raising such slogans would be arrested. She emphasized that Bengal was not Uttar Pradesh and stated that law enforcement would take action against those involved.
Banerjee also alleged that TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and his nephew would be arrested before the Lok Sabha elections. She claimed to have received a message suggesting that they might be arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) before the elections, alleging that files had been downloaded onto computers.
The upcoming Lok Sabha election in West Bengal remains a point of discussion and speculation as political leaders and parties engage in various tactics to secure their positions and address controversies.
