Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during an event in Uttar Pradesh, made a playful yet pointed remark directed at the Supreme Court, drawing an analogy from Hindu mythology. He humorously suggested that if Lord Krishna were to give rice to Sudama in modern times, it might lead to a public interest litigation (PIL) being filed in the Supreme Court. This comment came in the backdrop of the recent Supreme Court ruling scrapping the electoral bond scheme, which the court deemed “unconstitutional.”

PM Modi’s quip, delivered during the event’s welcome address, referenced a statement made by Acharya Pramod Krishnam, who expressed his inability to offer anything material and could only convey his sentiments. The Prime Minister light-heartedly remarked that it was fortunate that Krishnam refrained from giving him anything tangible, as the current era might misconstrue such an act. He playfully envisioned a scenario where a video of Sudama presenting rice to Lord Krishna would prompt a PIL alleging corruption, leading to a judicial inquiry.

The Supreme Court’s recent unanimous decision to strike down the electoral bond scheme, coupled with the directive to the State Bank of India (SBI) to disclose transaction details, has significant implications, particularly in the context of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The ruling, perceived as a setback for the BJP, has sparked debates about transparency and political financing.

PM Modi’s remarks were made during his visit to lay the foundation stone of Shri Kalki Dham in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district. He underscored the simultaneous development of pilgrimage sites and modern infrastructure across the nation, emphasizing the importance of both spiritual and technological progress.

Highlighting the significance of Kalki Dham, PM Modi envisioned it as a revered center of Indian faith, akin to other historical pilgrimage destinations. He emphasized the spiritual and transformative potential of such sites, suggesting that Kalki Dham would play a pivotal role in shaping India’s future for the next millennium.

PM Modi also invoked the symbolism of Lord Ram’s reign and the recent enthronement of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, heralding what he termed as a new era for India. Drawing parallels with the influence of Lord Ram’s rule, PM Modi expressed confidence in the transformative impact of Kalki Dham, attributing it to Kalki’s avatar.

In essence, PM Modi’s remarks combined humor with profound cultural and political insights. While his analogy from Hindu mythology added a light-hearted touch to his speech, it also subtly underscored broader themes of governance, justice, and the enduring values of Indian spirituality.
