Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha joined the chorus of criticism directed at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in light of the controversy surrounding the G20 dinner invitation bearing the title ‘President of Bharat.’ Chadha posted a tongue-in-cheek comment on the situation, saying, “We might consider changing the name of our alliance to BHARAT in the next meeting. Meanwhile, the BJP should now start thinking of a new name for the country.”
This statement comes amidst a growing debate surrounding the G20 dinner invites, which purportedly referred to the President of India as the “President of Bharat” instead of using the official term “President of India.”
Earlier, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had also weighed in on the matter, questioning whether the BJP would change the name of Bharat if the opposition alliance, INDIA, decided to rechristen itself as ‘Bharat.’ Kejriwal expressed his concerns during a press conference, stating that such changes were a result of the BJP’s fear of the alliance, and he referred to it as “treason.”
The controversy surrounding the invites has sparked discussions about the use of official terminology and the symbolism associated with the country’s name. While the use of “President of Bharat” said by Raghav Chadha has raised eyebrows and led to political jibes, it remains to be seen whether any official clarification or response will be provided by the concerned authorities.
