Congress Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) during a rally, questioning KCR’s proximity to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BJP and the absence of legal cases against him. Rahul Gandhi raised concerns about the investigative agencies targeting opposition leaders but not taking action against KCR.
Addressing the crowd in Telangana, Rahul Gandhi remarked, “There is some case against every opposition leader. ED, CBI, and the Income Tax Department are after all the opposition leaders, but there is no case against Telangana CM, or there is no case against AIMIM leaders.” He suggested that Prime Minister Narendra Modi refrains from taking action against leaders he considers his own, referring to KCR and the AIMIM party as Modi’s own.
Rahul Gandhi also criticized K. Chandrashekar Rao by humorously calling his party the “BJP Rishtedaar Samithi” (BJP Relatives’ Committee), suggesting a close alliance between the Telangana Chief Minister and the BJP.
While discussing the achievements of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA), Rahul Gandhi emphasized the credibility of Sonia Gandhi, the former Congress president. He stated that Sonia Gandhi fulfills her promises and cited the example of how the Congress fulfilled the commitment to create the state of Telangana. “We did not give statehood to Telangana for the benefit of KCR and his family,” Rahul Gandhi asserted.
Rahul Gandhi also outlined six guarantees that the Congress party has pledged to provide for Telangana if it comes to power. These guarantees include financial assistance of ₹5 lakh for housing construction for those without homes, the Mahalakshmi scheme offering ₹2,500 to women, affordable cylinders at ₹500, and free bus travel.
Another guarantee, Griha Jyoti, promises 200 units of free electricity to every family, and ₹5 lakh will be granted as financial assistance for college and coaching education. The fifth guarantee is a monthly pension of ₹4,000 for the elderly and ₹10 lakh health insurance. The sixth promise includes providing ₹15,000 annually for farmers and ₹12,000 for farm laborers.
Rahul Gandhi’s speech highlighted the political dynamics in Telangana and the promises made by the Congress party as part of its election campaign.
