Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, in a recent event in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh, likened Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to the legendary cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni, referring to him as the “Dhoni of politics.” Singh praised Chouhan’s political skills and his ability to secure victories, drawing parallels to Dhoni’s exceptional finishing abilities in cricket.
“I have seen the MP CM working in the field of politics. If I say that your ‘mama’ Shivraj Singh Chouhan is the ‘Dhoni’ of politics, then that would not be an exaggeration…” Rajnath Singh said, acknowledging Chouhan’s political prowess.
Rajnath Singh continued, “This is the art of Shivraj Singh Chouhan. But he has gained political success not just based on art; he has served the people like a caretaker. This is how he has gained the trust of the people.”
Singh also criticized former Chief Minister Kamal Nath, highlighting policy decisions during his tenure. He mentioned that Kamal Nath’s government had hindered several central government schemes, including housing initiatives, and cited differences over credit allocation for these schemes.
Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, several leaders, including a sitting MLA, recently resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and joined the Congress party. These leaders cited various reasons for their switch, including allegations of corruption and factionalism within the BJP.
Notably, Rajiv Kumar, Chief Election Commissioner, along with Election Commissioners Anup Chandra Pandey and Arun Goel, visited Bhopal to review preparations for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections.
In the 2018 Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections, the Congress, led by Kamal Nath and supported by Jyotiraditya Scindia, secured victory over the BJP, ending the latter’s 15-year rule in the state. However, Kamal Nath’s tenure was short-lived, as Scindia and 22 other Congress MLAs defected to the BJP, leading to Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s return as Chief Minister.
As the state gears up for the next assembly elections, Rajnath Singh’s endorsement of Shivraj Singh Chouhan as the ‘Dhoni of politics’ is expected to generate significant attention and discussion within political circles and among voters in Madhya Pradesh.
