On Wednesday, a Delhi court instructed officials to furnish AAP leader Manish Sisodia with the CCTV footage from May 23, when he alleged security manhandling by security personnel at the Rouse Avenue District Courts premises. The court ordered the preservation and production of the footage and directed an extra copy to be provided by the Assistant Engineer (Electrical), PWD to the court’s Reader before the next date for the counsel representing the accused.
Mr. Sisodia, who is accused in cases related to the alleged excise policy scam, was physically presented before the court for Wednesday’s proceedings. The court had previously ordered that he should continue to be produced unless otherwise requested by the accused or directed by the court.
Regarding co-accused Amit Arora’s hospitalization at a private hospital in Gurugram, the court expressed concern over its prolonged duration and sought a detailed medical report from the Medical Superintendent/Director of the concerned hospital immediately. The court instructed the hospital to include the details of the medical procedures or tests conducted during Arora’s hospitalization and specifically explain why these procedures or tests could not have been performed during OPD visits and were only possible after the accused’s admission.
Manish Sisodia was arrested by the ED in a money laundering case related to the alleged scam on March 9 from Tihar Jail, where he is currently in judicial custody. Initially arrested by the CBI, Sisodia, a 51-year-old accused, is being probed for alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the excise policy.
The ED, in its nearly 270-page supplementary charge sheet with annexures totaling 2,000 pages, has identified Sisodia as a “key conspirator” in the security manhandling case. The anti-money laundering agency has revealed that the liquor policy ‘scam’ was a “conspiracy” orchestrated by prominent political leaders of the AAP and the ‘South Group,’ including BRS leader K Kavitha, YSR Congress MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, and others, who used proxies and dummies to conceal their involvement.
