Indian Railways’ Vande Bharat Express trains are undergoing a striking transformation with a new exterior makeover. The upcoming Vande Bharat Express trains will sport a vibrant orange-colored exterior, a departure from the previous design. These trains are scheduled to debut on Saturday from the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, unveiling not only a fresh look but also a range of innovative features geared towards passenger comfort and safety.
The new Vande Bharat Express trains will be configured with eight coaches and will offer passengers a host of upgraded amenities. Notably, passengers can expect more comfortable reclining seats, extended footrests for the Executive Chair car class coaches, enhanced access to mobile charging points, and improved basin design to prevent water splashes. Additionally, passengers will benefit from better toilet lighting, touch-sensitive reading lamps, and advanced roller blind fabric.
The new Vande Bharat trains will also prioritize the needs of passengers with special requirements. The design includes fixing points for attaching wheelchairs in driving trailer coaches, ensuring their safety and comfort during travel. Furthermore, the trains will be equipped with anti-climbing devices, enhancing overall safety measures.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently revealed that the 28th rake of the Indian-built semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express will feature a saffron-colored exterior. This color choice is inspired by the Indian Tricolour, symbolizing the nation’s identity and unity.
The Vande Bharat Express project is a testament to India’s growing prowess in railway technology. The journey began in 2017, and within a short span of 18 months, the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai successfully completed Train-18, the country’s first semi-high-speed train. Renamed Vande Bharat Express in January 2019 to reflect its “Made in India” status, the train achieved a remarkable top speed of 180 km/h on the Kota-Sawai Madhopur section.
With 25 operational rakes already running on designated routes and two reserved, the Vande Bharat Express is transforming rail travel in India by providing passengers with a faster and more comfortable mode of transportation. The infusion of vibrant orange exteriors and a range of enhanced features further cements the train’s reputation as a symbol of modernity, innovation, and national pride in India’s rail network.
