In the run-up to the upcoming Rajasthan state assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its second list of candidates, with former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia emerging as one of the prominent contenders. Raje Scindia will be contesting from her traditional seat of Jhalrapatan.
The second list of candidates released by the BJP includes several prominent names, showcasing the party’s strong lineup for the Rajasthan Assembly elections. Former Rajasthan BJP president Satish Punia is among the notable candidates, set to contest from the Amber constituency.
Jhalrapatan has been a traditional stronghold for Vasundhara Raje, and her decision to contest from this constituency reaffirms her commitment to the political landscape in the state.
Another prominent figure in the list is the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly, Rajendra Rathore, who will be contesting from the Taranagar constituency. Additionally, former MP Joyti Mirdha, who recently made the switch from Congress to the BJP, will be contesting from the Nagaur constituency.
The BJP’s first list of candidates for the Rajasthan Assembly elections was unveiled on October 9. Notable inclusions from that list include former Union Minister and Member of Parliament Rajyavardhan Rathore, who will be contesting from the Jhotwara constituency. Diya Kumari, a Member of Parliament, is set to contest from Vidhyadhar Nagar.
Baba Balaknath has been fielded by the BJP from Tijara, while Kirodi Lal Meena will represent the party in the Sawai Madhopur constituency.
The Rajasthan Assembly elections scheduled for November 25 are significant, as the BJP is aiming to regain power from the Congress in the state. In the 2018 elections, the Congress secured 99 seats in the 200-member state assembly, forming the government, while the BJP won 73 seats. The outcome of these elections will be closely watched, with the counting of votes set for December 3.
