Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi recently fell victim to an alleged cheating incident, wherein he was swindled of a substantial amount of ₹ 1.55 crore by three individuals. The incident came to light after the actor’s chartered accountant lodged a complaint against the trio at the MIDC police station in Andheri East.
As per the complaint, the three accused, one of whom is a film producer, were previously business partners of Vivek Oberoi. They approached the actor with an investment opportunity in an event and film production firm, enticing him with promises of lucrative returns. Trusting his partners, the actor decided to invest ₹ 1.55 crore in the project.
Unfortunately, the trust was misplaced, as the accused individuals allegedly misappropriated the invested funds for their own personal gains instead of using them for the proposed venture. To add to the complexity of the situation, the actor’s wife was also a partner in the firm, making the matter even more distressing for him.
As a result of this unfortunate turn of events, the actor’s chartered accountant filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the three accused under several sections of the Indian Penal Code. The charges include common intention, criminal breach of trust, cheating by personation, and cheating. The FIR marks the beginning of a formal investigation into the matter.
While the police have initiated the probe, further details about the case are yet to emerge. The investigation aims to shed light on the extent of the alleged fraud and hold the culprits accountable for their actions.
As this situation unfolds, Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi and his family are likely experiencing great distress and disappointment due to the betrayal of their former business partners. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of conducting due diligence and exercising caution when making financial investments, even in close business relationships. The legal proceedings will now determine the course of action to seek justice and restitution for the actor and his family.
