Following the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Ajinkya Rahane immediately flew to England for the World Test Championship final. Subsequently, he embarked on India’s Test tour of the West Indies this month. These additional engagements, which were not initially factored into his schedule, prompted Rahane to express his desire for a period of rest during August and September, resulting in his decision not to feature for Leicestershire as planned.
Leicestershire Cricket Club has been understanding of Rahane’s situation, acknowledging his hectic schedule in recent months and the need to spend quality time with his family. The club’s Director of Cricket, Claude Henderson, emphasized their support for Rahane’s decision, recognizing that situations can rapidly change in the world of cricket. In Rahane’s place, Australian cricketer Peter Handscomb will take over. Handscomb, who has been a part of the Foxes, has extended his stay with the team, enabling him to participate in the upcoming Metro Bank One Day Cup next month.
