The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of very heavy rains in several Indian states, including Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Kerala, with heavy rains predicted in many states until September 8. The weather department has also forecast an increase in rainfall activity with isolated heavy falls expected over states such as Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
In Kerala, an orange alert has been issued for Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts, with moderate rain expected to continue for the next five days and the possibility of heavy rains at isolated places from September 4 to 8.
In West Bengal, heavy rain has been predicted over Gangetic West Bengal until Wednesday morning due to the formation of a cyclonic circulation, which is likely to intensify into a low-pressure area.
The Meteorological department in Andhra Pradesh has forecast heavy rains in parts of the state for the next four days, accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms.
In the national capital, Delhi, the IMD has forecast a generally cloudy sky on Tuesday with the possibility of very light rain at night.

Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, Rayalaseema, North Interior Karnataka, Coastal & South Interior Karnataka, and South Interior Karnataka are all expected to witness isolated heavy rainfall.
Some regions, including Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Kerala & Mahe, may experience isolated very heavy rainfall on September 4 and 5.
Central India:
Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, and West Madhya Pradesh may see isolated heavy rainfall.
Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha could also experience isolated very heavy rainfall on specific dates.
West India:
Marathwada, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Gujarat Region are expected to have isolated heavy rainfall.
Northeast India:
Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura may witness isolated heavy rainfall activity on September 7 and 8.
Northwest India:
East Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Uttar Pradesh are likely to have isolated heavy rainfall activity.
The IMD’s warning comes after a period of deficient rainfall in several regions, with September expected to bring normal rainfall levels. IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra noted that monsoon rainfall for August was the lowest in the past 122 years since 1901 and that August had one of the worst months of monsoon deficiency in history, particularly in Central India and South Peninsular India.
