President Joe Biden concluded his two-nation visit to India and Vietnam with a press conference where he made several lighthearted remarks. 1. Absence from Conversation with Xi Jinping: When asked about not speaking to Chinese President Xi Jinping, who was absent from the G20 Summit in New Delhi, President Biden joked about going to bed.
  2. Staff Instructions: At another point in the press conference, President Biden mentioned that he would follow his orders and avoid calling on any staff members who hadn’t spoken yet. This comment added a touch of humor to the proceedings.
  3. Climate Change Response: When asked about reducing fossil fuels and addressing climate change, Biden gave a rambling response that included a reference to an unidentified John Wayne western film. He used the phrase “lying, dog-faced pony soldier” in his response, leading to questions about its relevance.

President Biden’s joking and meandering comments during the press conference have led to reactions from conservatives, some of whom have accused him of campaigning for the 2024 election from his basement, a reference to his remote campaign activities during the 2020 election due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The White House responded to these reactions by emphasizing President Biden’s busy schedule during his five-day world tour, which included participation in the G20 summit in India before arriving in Hanoi, Vietnam. The White House deputy communications director highlighted the president’s itinerary and remarked on his active engagement in international affairs.

President Biden’s humorous remarks added a light-hearted touch to the press conference but also sparked discussion and reactions regarding his communication style and approach to important issues like climate change.
