Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, the founder of Isha Foundation, recently underwent an emergency brain surgery at a hospital in Delhi due to massive swelling and bleeding in his brain. The spiritual guru is currently in recovery and showing steady progress, according to a senior doctor overseeing his treatment. Upon hearing the news, numerous celebrities and prominent figures took to social media to express their wishes for Sadhguru’s speedy recovery.
In a video shared on Sadhguru’s social media account, he can be seen in a partially conscious state, discussing his health condition. “The Apollo hospital neurosurgeons cut through my skull to try and find something but found nothing — empty. So they gave up and patched it up. Here I am in Delhi with a patched-up skull but a damaged brain,” Sadhguru shared in the video.
According to Dr. Vinit Suri, a senior consultant neurologist at Apollo Hospitals, Sadhguru had been experiencing severe headaches for the past four weeks. Despite the pain, he continued with his normal activities, including conducting the Mahashivratri function in March. The function, which is attended by thousands of people at the Yoga Center and online, went ahead despite Sadhguru’s agonizing pain.
However, Sadhguru’s condition worsened on March 15, prompting him to seek medical attention. Initially hesitant due to prior commitments, he eventually underwent an MRI scan, which revealed massive bleeding in his brain. The bleeding occurred twice — first approximately three weeks ago and then again around two to three days before the scan.
The 66-year-old spiritual leader is renowned for his work in environmental conservation through initiatives like the ‘Save Soil’ and ‘Rally for Rivers’ campaigns launched by the Isha Foundation. Despite his health challenges, Sadhguru has remained committed to his cause and continues to inspire millions worldwide.
Sadhguru’s journey serves as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing health and seeking timely medical assistance, even amidst busy schedules and commitments. His resilience and determination to overcome obstacles resonate with many, drawing an outpouring of support and well-wishes from his followers and admirers across the globe.
As Sadhguru continues his recovery, the thoughts and prayers of countless individuals are with him, hoping for his swift return to good health. His experience also highlights the significance of raising awareness about brain health and the importance of early detection and treatment of neurological conditions.
