Pooja Bhatt is an Indian film actress, director, voice over artist, model and film maker. She is the recipient of several accolades, including two National Film Awards. She is best known for her films like Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, Sadak and Zakhm.
Personal Life :
Pooja Bhatt was born on 24th February 1972 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She is the daughter of director and producer Mahesh Bhatt and Loraine Bright. After marriage, her Mom Loraine changed her name to Kiran Bhatt. Mahesh Bhatt separated from Loraine and married again with Soni Razdan. She has a younger brother, Rahul Bhatt and two stepsisters, Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt. She is the cousin of Director Mohit Suri and actor Emraan Hashmi. Pooja met Manish Makhija on the sets of film Paap, and got married in Goa in 2003. After a togetherness of around 11 years, the couple got divorced in 2014.
Career :
Pooja Bhatt made her acting debut in 1989 with a TV film Daddy, directed by her father Mahesh Bhatt. She made her big screen debut with the film Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, together with Aamir Khan, and movie was a huge hit at the box office. She starred in most well known movies Sadak opposite Sanjay Dutt, Junoon opposite Rahul Roy, Angrakshak opposite Sunny Deol, Border opposite Akshay Khanna, and Zakhm opposite Ajay Devgan. The most notable film of her acting career was Chaahat opposite Shahrukh Khan.
She launched her own film production company named ‘Pooja Bhatt Productions’ in the year 1996 and released the movie Tamanna under its name. Unluckily, the movie didn’t perform well at Indian box office. Her last film was Everybody Says I’m Fine!, which released in 2001. Pooja made her directorial debut in 2004 with the film Paap, starring Udita Goswami and John Abraham. After which, she has directed four more films Holiday and Dhokha, Kajraare and Jism 2. She is set to return to acting after almost two decades in Sadak 2, a sequel of her hit film Sadak. The film will see her and Sanjay Dutt reprising their roles from the original and her sister Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur joining the cast. Her father will be returning to directing with this film after 20 years and it is set for release in 2020.
