In the midst of a war-like situation in the Middle East, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stern warning to Hamas, the militant group responsible for the ongoing conflict. He stated that they would pay a heavy price for their actions and remember it for a long time. Netanyahu also emphasized that Israel did not initiate the conflict but was determined to bring it to a decisive end.
Since the surprise attack by Hamas on Saturday, the toll on Israelis has been devastating, with approximately 2,300 injuries and over 700 fatalities reported in the country.
During an address to the nation, Netanyahu declared, “Israel is at war. We didn’t want this war. It was forced upon us in the most brutal and savage way. But though Israel didn’t start this war, Israel will finish it.”
Netanyahu directed strong words towards Hamas, stating, “Hamas will understand that by attacking us, they have made a mistake of historic proportions. We will exact a price that will be remembered by them and Israel’s other enemies for decades to come.”
He also drew attention to the harrowing situation of those taken hostage, describing the brutality of Hamas’s actions. He said, “The savage attacks that Hamas perpetrated against innocent Israelis are mindboggling: slaughtering families in their homes, massacring hundreds of young people at an outdoor festival, and kidnapping scores of women, children, and the elderly, even Holocaust survivors. Hamas terrorists bound, burned, and executed children. They are savages.”
Netanyahu expressed gratitude to US President Joe Biden and other world leaders for their support during this challenging time. He highlighted the commitment of the United States to Israel’s security and thanked world leaders for their unprecedented backing.
“I am in continuous contact with President Biden, and I would like to thank him again, on behalf of all the citizens of Israel, for the commitment of the US in words and deeds for the security of Israel,” Netanyahu stated. “Also, I want to thank many world leaders for your unprecedented support for Israel.”
In closing, Netanyahu asserted with a warning, “In fighting Hamas, Israel is not only fighting for its own people. It is fighting for every country that stands against barbarism. Israel will win this war, and when Israel wins, the entire civilized world will win.”
The conflict in the Middle East remains a source of deep concern, and efforts to reach a resolution continue amid ongoing violence.
