Maithili Thakur is an Indian playback and also trained in Indian classical and Folk Music. She sings in various categories, especially original songs, covers, and traditional folk music in Hindi, Bengali, Maithili, Urdu, Marathi, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Tamil, English and more Indian languages.
Maithili Thakur was born on 26 July 2000 in Benipatti in the Madhubani district located in Bihar, India. Her father Ramesh Thakur is a music Instructor by profession, and her mother Bharti Thakur is a Housewife. Maithili also has two siblings named Rishav Thakur and Ayachi Thakur. Her two brothers mainly play the Tabla and Dholak, and also sing along with her, providing the background vocals.
Maithili was interested in learning singing since her childhood age. She started learning music from her grandfather when she was only 4 years old. Maithili, along with her two brothers, Rishav and Ayachi were trained by their grandfather and father in Maithili Folk, Hindustani classical music, Harmonium and Tabla. Realising his daughter’s potential around the age of 6, her father relocated themselves to Dwarka in New Delhi, where Maithili and her brothers studied at Bal Bhavan International School. She began singing at Jagrans and other musical events when she was just ten years old.
Career :
In 2011, Maithili Thakur appeared in Little Champs, a singing competition television series telecast in Zee TV. In 2015, Maithili won the singing reality show “I-Genius Young Singing Stars” Season 2. She launched her album, Ya Rabba with Universal Music. She also contested in Indian Idol Junior, Sony TV. In 2017, she was a contestant in the season 1 of Rising Star, a television singing competition. She was the first finalist of the show, singing Om Namah Shivaya which gained her direct entry into the final, where She was runner up, losing out by just two votes.
In 2019 Maithili Thakur and her brothers, Rishav and Ayachi, were made the brand ambassadors of Madhubani by the Election Commission of India. After a huge success from videos on Facebook and YouTube the trio has been performing at various National and International Events, Literature Fests.
